The Dumb Waiter Play Analysis

In the class, we learn about the Anti Realism through lot of works. I think ‘The Dumb Waiter’ has Anti Realism factors just little bit. Because in this play, Gus and Ben are hit men and they live in small room and there is the dumb waiter with speaking tube. We could not find hit men, but maybe several hit men in the world. However, a mostly people does not have the dumb waiter with speaking tube in the room and if some people have it, they used in restaurants. And also, in the play, executive or the upper person who is not actually involved in the talking scene, but Gus and Ben keep mention about that person. I think it makes little bit thinking that is anti realist factor because we could not see who the upper person is and just imagine who are them or just one person. However, I am not thinking these are really …show more content…
Especially, I recommend learn with ‘Homecoming’ because ‘Homecoming’ is also the theater of absurd, but ‘Homecoming’ has lots Anti Realism factor and ‘The Dumb Waiter’ has not lots of Anti Realism factors. Thus, Compare two plays and think about why the author wrote like these two plays that almost same style but different style. I think this play is valuable to other writers and actors both. In ‘The Dumb Waiter’, there are lots of emotions in just one act and this play express emotion really well. Thus, I think actors get to know and learn lots of feelings and emotions and how to express well through book, film, and performance and writers get to know and learn writing technique such as the theater of the absurd, Pinteresque, and more. Therefore, I think this play is worth learning for learning deeply about Harold Pinter, his work and his writing

The play, Yankee Tavern, by Steven Dietz, published by Dramatists Play Service Inc, was unquestionably some food for thought. All throughout the storyline, numerous conspiracies ranging from starbucks being a cult in a cup to man landing on the moon were woven between the four main characters, Adam, Janet, Ray and Palmer. That being said, perhaps the most prominent of all, were the one’s related to the terrorist attack on the United States on September 11, 2001. Needless to say, that was probably a touchy subject to write so in detailed about. Nonetheless, Dietz crafted the plotline in a very elegant and perhaps informative manner.…

The language kept me engaged throughout the whole play. I was interested for a majority of the play. I would enjoyed it more had the actors not read from a script. " A series of 10 brief scenes, the script is rich with poignancy, tragedy and humor, qualities that director Nina Lee Aquino's Tarragon production admirably captures," according to NOW Toronto.…

This play was one of the longest plays I had ever sat in on, but it didn’t feel like it. The characters and the story kept making me want more. It was that good! For this assignment, I am referring to the play The Cuttlefish by Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz. Using our text as a guide, a well-made play "disregards the classical utilities in favor of the unpredictable structure of dreams, exploiting the individual, subjective mind for their overall shape. " In this regard, The Cuttlefish is certainly a well-made play. The play is full of psychology and psychoanalysis that, according to August Strindberg are the very qualities of what a play…

Overall, 12 Angry Men the play was made pretty accurate representation of the screenplay. The movie 12 Angry Men displayed differences in the roles of characters, adding scenes, and a changed ending. The changes made were for the most part a good addition and contributed in a positive way towards the film. This was a good screenplay to read and a good movie to watch because of the interesting themes and plot, and is a story I would happily watch and read…

Realism and naturalism are two different literary movements, but they have many similarities. Realism expresses real life situations and focuses on a true illustration of life while naturalism is represented like an overstated type of realism. Naturalism is based on humans versus a force that is out of their control. Short stories in American literature portray realism and naturalism in many ways. Editha, The Open Boat, and An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge are all based on these literary movements.…

Over the past centuries, the topics of realism and anti-realism have been on ongoing debate amongst philosophers. Both perspectives have been revisited time after time, citing different reasons for the existence of each belief. These two topics belong to the area of philosophy, more specifically, metaphysics. Metaphysics explores the nature of existence, exploring why things exist and how they came to exist in the first place. Philosophers argue that it is the foundation behind philosophy, answering questions about the existence of the world, that if left unanswered would hinder our perception and grasp of reality.…
