Reflection On The Dual Enrollment Course

I did not need to take English 101 at Nicholls State University because I had already taken the course through a dual enrollment course at my high school. Entering from that class to an actual college English class was very different than what I thought. In the dual enrollment course it was more focused on creative writing than technical writing. In the dual enrollment course it was more of a literature class and I thought college English would resemble that more. We would have an assignments to discuss literature and journals to help us practice writing creatively. I think that my AP English four class in high school was more of a college English course than my dual enrollment class. In my high school English classes it resembled a college …show more content…
Going through English 102 I felt that I have made improvement on my growth as a writer. I was not prepared to enter an English 102 class but I now feel like I’m prepared for the other English classes to follow. I feel like as I move on to other English classes I am better able to meet the demands of a college English class in the future. I feel more confident when writing an essay. Before when I was given an essay I was stressed because essays are the hardest for me. The reason they are the hardest is because I am a weak technical writer and it shows in my essays. The low scores that I receive on my essays are only because of my grammar errors that I make on them. I can write creatively but when comes to grammar I am weak. The changes I have made in English 102 is grammar and becoming more knowledgeable about the outline of an essay. In English 102 we went over certain writings like persuasive writing. The class is made up of three essays in which we have to practice how to follow certain criteria for each essay. We really focused on citations and how to work with them in an essay. We also so focused on what it is required in an essay to discuss every aspect of the topic that could arise. Our teacher also went over what should be in an essay including the thesis, transitional sentences, and the work
