The Drive From Arizona-Personal Narrative

Decent Essays
First I would like to start with the drive from Arizona to Wyoming. This drive is like no other, the views from cactus to pine trees are breath taking. The town that I stay in is Greybull, when you enter this town it looks like a scene from an old western movie. The streets are empty with wooden sidewalks and there are only two stop signs. The weather plays a very large part in this memory as the air is crisp and clear with a smell of freshness. In the middle of town is a very old motel that was built in the early nineteen hundreds. The rooms are fairly large and have a story of their own.

We would pass a bunch of farm animals and open fields filled with big round rolls of hay either sitting across or in a straight line from each other. The scenery mainly consisted of clear fields, bright green trees, clear blue skies, bird calls and roaring cars. Sometimes, it would be a rainy day, on our drive up to the big old creaky house out in the middle of nowhere. It took about…

“Why I Chose Southwest” As a homeschooled high school senior, I am unable to take Advanced Placement courses, which are college-level classes taken at a high school. Students earn college credits by taking an exam at the end of the year. To remedy this, I decided to register at Southwest Tennessee Community College for dual enrollment classes. I chose Southwest for a multitude of reasons: to complete my high school education, to provide challenging courses in preparation for college, and to grant me college credit. I opted to take Pre Calculus, English Composition, and Anatomy & Physiology this semester.…

I was thrilled to be escaping from home and traveling to Gatlinburg. The cabin we would be renting was outstandingly gorgeous. I had my own full size bed , couch, and a full bathroom. Unfortunately it is a seven and half hour drive to the cabin from my house so of course we had to find something to do. We saw fifty out of fifty states, two provinces of Canada, and Great Britain license plates and the top three states we saw were Indiana, New York, and Ohio.…

I saw only darkness, save the faint glow of lava rocks in a small hole dug in front of me. I breathe in what should be steaming hot air, but it is dry, yet so hot. Even growing up in Tucson where the summer heat can reach 110 degrees, I’ve never experienced something quite like this. I wished I was playing out in that summer heat, this felt like I was being cooked in an oven. I breathe in again, more dry air.…

One of the first things I remember about going on that trip is looking down at my feet and thinking that I would die if I fell. I was nine and very light-headed at the time. It was the winter of 2009 and one of the first times I had ever gone to Colorado. The drive there took about 6 hours from our house so you can imagine my excitement at finally getting out of the car as an inpatient nine-year-old. We were renting a small two story log cabin with a hot tub on the second- floor balcony from a family that had a winter home somewhere in Florida.…

Two thousand five hundred eighty-seven. I could take an eight-hour flight or a casual thirty-seven-hour drive, but no matter what, I am still two thousand five hundred eighty-seven miles away from my home in New Haven, Connecticut. Being a college freshman, trying to juggle class, homework, projects, studying, sleeping, eating, and athletics; finding the travel time to go home is an almost impossible task. Add in the cost of the $600 flights round trip and there is no chance a student can go visit home when they feel a little homesick. I on the other hand had never even fathomed being homesick from the frozen tundra I called home.…

I went on a road trip to Lake Tahoe with my friends the week after graduation in June. We rented a cabin near the lake and spent four nights kayaking, hiking, and exploring different scenic spots throughout the area. My favorite (and scariest!) part of the trip was working up the courage to jump off a 20 foot cliff into the lake. The trip was a great way to wrap up our time at UCLA, and it gave us a chance to hang out together one last time before we went our separate ways.…

“Then one day, when you least expect it, the great adventure finds you,” stated Ewan Mcgregor. With every adventure comes a story, it might not always end how you want, but adventures create memories to never forget. A couple weeks ago a dear friend of mine and I had an all day adventure, spur of the moment but a day we’ll never forget. We took a road trip to Little Rock, attempted to take a nap, went to the gym and worked-out, then somehow ended up covered in mud from head-to-toe!…
