The Drinking Age Should Stay At 21 Essay

The law of the drinking age should be lowered because it is not fair to prevent some adults from the rights of other adults.The history of laws on alcohol restriction have proven to be faulted as they can not adequately prevent the drinking of alcohol. When a citizen turns 18, they are given all new rights except for, the right to drink alcohol. The drinking age should stay at 21 because it prevents young adults from drinking and making mistakes that can cost them later in life. God says it is okay to drink alcohol in the bible, only if it is responsible and does not cause you to stumble. The drunk driving rate would decrease because of the MLDA 21 law ( NHTSA, 2008). The law lowers the amount of people able to consume alcohol, which lessens the amount of people able to become drunk, which also leads to less possibilities of people driving while intoxicated. This puts alcohol in the hands of more responsible people who will watch after themselves better than a young person would. MLDA 21 reduces the amount of underage drinkers and is able to help young adults age and mature without any interference in their development ( Fell, 2008). Alcohol stunts growth and development in minors and young adults, so the law MLDA 21 allows for young citizens to develop into their full potential. The number of accidents and traffic fatalities due to intoxication are low, because young adults tend to act out of control and drink and then go driving (Wagenaar & Loomey, 2002). The youth of America can go on and do fantastic things for the county without the restriction of alcohol which would hurt their brain. The youth in this nation is the future of Americas success, so it is best to keep them away from alcohol which could hurt them in multiple
