In order to stay first in the business competition, businesses need to properly control and manage their image. Personal branding is simply a way to positively promote and sell your company. For a business to be successful, they need to create and maintain a positive image all while communicating with their audience. With the growing power of the Internet and social media, we are finding new ways to build and maintain relationships. “Social media can be defined as online applications, platforms and media, which aim to facilitate interactions, collaborations and the sharing of content.” (Daniel Richter) Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Pinterest are providing businesses with a platform to publicize their messages and goals, creating authentic …show more content…
This campaign was also successful due to the costumer’s engagement. Doritos kept in touch with what users were saying, by allowing consumers to voice their opinions, they were able to share their experiences and become brand advocates. Having consumers being acknowledged and recognized allows them to feel valued, which results in increased brand loyalty. According to AdAge, the overall engagement [was] up. “Listening” to consumers does not mean just talking to consumers; it means the company is aware of their place within the culture of social media. Twitter is a popular way to gain feedback from customers, however many companies do not revise their overall marketing message. This message must be revised entirely to reassure that you will get the least amount of negative feedback. Although, this is easier said than done, many companies are attacked during their social campaigns.
In April of 2014, the NYPD posted a tweet asking for photos of the NYPD at its finest, using the hashtag #MyNYPD. At the beginning of the campaign many citizens were posting photos with their neighborhood cops. By midnight more than 70,000 people had tweeted about police brutality. Photos of the police with batons and shields were passed around, putting the NYPD in the negative eye.
