In the Curious Incident Of The dog In The Nighttime, Father is the most influential character on Christopher, because he is warm hearted/caring and strict, which helps get Christopher through his hard times, and later on in the book, helps Christopher understand and trust people more than he did before. The first quote that I chose displays all of the things that father does for Christopher, and might have to do something’s differently, that other parents might not have to do for their kids, but that yet again shows how much father cares for Christopher and that he does everything to make Christopher satisfied. The loss of a loved one will make someone go through many if not all the stages of grief. In How to Touch a Bleeding Dog, by Rod Kessler there is an indirect message behind the text, in which a man has become a widower with his wife Beths dog as a remembrance of her. Despite how much the man seemed to love his wife, he does not feel the same about her dog that she has left behind. The dog plays a minor role is the story, as it is more directed towards Beth. It is obvious to the reader that the narrator has not yet accepted reality, gone beyond through the idea that the dog to the man is more of a burden then a companion; a “responsibility”, and seen through when the dog gets into an accident, becoming the description of loneliness and the effect of loss.…

A neighborhood dog is seen dead with a garden fork punctured through its body and the only person who should care deeply enough to investigate the murder of Wellington (the dog) is its owner, Mrs. Shears. However, Christopher overturns this assumption and takes matters into his own hands. Although this incident would often be overlooked and instead given pity and sympathy to, a spark in Christopher’s curiosity sets off a chain of events that eventually immerse his thoughts into deeper, more personal matters in his life. It is never mentioned that Wellington actually served any sort of significant role in Christopher’s life but Christopher Boone takes advantage of the opportunity to think like a detective, more specifically like his inspiration…

A Mess of Bad Puppies From The Teacher’s Funeral, by Richard Peck It was close and airless in the church before the female mourners got their cardboard fans going.
