Alienation is something that is all too familiar these days with the constant use of technology. People are starting to feel more and more alone even when surrounded by a group of people. Technology has come a long way over the past few years. People can communicate with others all over the world with a click of a button. We have so much technology and information at our finger tips and most people are constantly on their phones that when actually in the room with people it is easy to get lost in the glow from the screen. The Coca Cola avatar ad, ”I Forgot my phone” and “The Pleasure of the Text” provide ways that people are alienated on daily basis and no one seems to think twice about it.
The Coca Cola avatar ad shows a man walking around a town that is full of avatars. All of the avatars are on their phones or using some sort of technology this is a great depiction of what one may see in today’s society. The guy is walking down the street looking at all the avatars and some almost run into him because they are too busy on their phones. The song that is playing is about being the loneliest guy in the town, but really he is probably the happiest guy in the town. He is the only one who does not have an avatar, is not on a phone and is paying attention to what is going on around him. The use of the avatars show how easy it is for people to hide their true identity, with a few clicks of a button you can be someone…
