In my head, I related this to a hazing process that would occur in a sorority or a fraternity. I found this process very interesting and unique because the English would honestly believe they were being tortured and killed before the last second where they can reprieve themselves. This would be a scary experience for any English person to go through, so it would make sense that they would not be very fond of Native American traditions, such as that one. I am very curious at why the Indians would torture the person they were adopting and cause them to be very hurt prior to adopting them into their family. Something else I found very interesting was how after John Smith returned to England, the way the English treated the Native Americans. It was evident that even during the beginning the English essentially made enemies with the Native Americans. They often took advantage of them and used them as a source for food. I think that the Native Americans began to catch on and as …show more content…
Three scientific findings clearly stood out to me. The first was the body of the little boy that was found. The records stated that the first attack of the indians was a boy who was killed. Centuries later, people find the remains of a boy who had a spear in his skeleton. That boy very easily could have been the boy that was killed first during the attack. The second scientific finding I thought was interesting was the testing of the tree, proving the drought. The final scientific finding that I found interesting that directly impacted relationships between the Indians and the English was the copper. The Native Americans were mesmerized with the copper that the English had and it was often used to be traded to food and other goods. The gold tone metal was used to show power in the Native American community, the more shiny metal you had, the more powerful you became. Because the English had so much copper, they did not mind trading it for necessary items. When remains of copper were found on old Indian territory, it was tested and the materials and mineral that were found in the test prove that it was from England. I find this interesting because science can prove where something is rooted from. This also proves that the English and the Indians did trade copper for other goods needed to
