This doctrinal belief comes from the Wesleyan tradition. Christian perfection means that all Christians have the ability to live perfect lives, free of sin. I believe humans, because they were given free will, can choose to not sin and live a perfect life. This is nearly impossible for humans, alone, to do because of the corruption of our lives. Due to the fact that we have lived our lives consistently surrounded with sin, it is extremely difficult to fully resist sin. In the same way Jesus was fully human and lived a sinless life, it is possible for us to live a sinless life. This is a beautiful thing because, by God’s grace, every time one is tempted to sin, God provides a way to run from that sin. With this knowledge, I believe we, as Christians, should strive to be blameless in God’s sight. Because we have all sinned and fall short of the Glory of God, we have Jesus who is our substitution.
