People become easily coerced and reliant upon the media. When that message is also broadcasted to millions of people it becomes well known and often seen as the truth whether it actually is or isn’t. This seems like a reliable and convenient source to retain information from however they also come along with many biases. Media Matters for America issued a report of ethnic and gender diversity on prime-time cable news. Currently all hosts on prime-time cable news are white and the majority are male. The majority of the guests, 84%, on these shows are also white.Prime time cable lacks diversity the most. Although these expectations tend to differ from country to country, America’s definition of beauty abides by western beauty standards. The all American girl being of course blonde hair, blue eyes, wide eyed, slim, straight hair, etc. Such as in, “The Bluest Eye” by Toni Morrison, beauty is held by society’s standards of white attributions making beauty unattainable for the young black girls.
