The Diversity Of Food Choices In America

Decent Essays
I grew up in a small village where we are so poor my parents can barely even take me to school. In China, I had to walk miles and miles, wake up extra early to go to school. The food was not so tasty and does not have a lot of variety of food choices than here in America. For example, since america has diversity of peoples therefore there are many variety of different culture of foods which I absolutely love to eat and taste. In America, I love how there is school buses where it picks up the students at a certain bus spot and it was free. Also, there is more activity to do in recess and lunch breaks. The teachers here cares, shows passion to each students, and listen to other students opinions.

I am thankful that I go to school in America because in many countries like China, are very demanding compared to American schools for many reasons. The hours are longer compared to American schools. Chinese students go to school from 7:30-5:30 if they finish all the tasks and work they have done, and it doesn't even include homework. In my opinion, China values school more for many reasons, but the main reason is that there aren't public high schools in China, so only certain students can get in if they can afford it. If they can afford it, the student still has to pass a test to get into high school.…

I agree with the Pollan, that the price of good food is obstructing low income families to buy it. In America healthy food like organic fruits and vegetables are not affordable for everyone. I strongly believe that if healthy food could cost less people will go for the healthy choice, the proof is in supermarkets like Trader Joe’s and Whole foods, we usually see people from upper class buying expensive organic food. So, when people have more money they are buying more healthy food than when they are low incomes. I’m also convinced that Americans are aware about the awful realty of cheap food like fast food and the dollar store vegetables full of pesticides, but they are not able to change the reality because “to eat well in this country…
