On November 16, 2016, I went to the diversity event with speaker, Dar Mayweather. During this event, Mayweather discussed the topic of racial awareness and how to be mindful of this issue. Though everyone has different perceptions on this matter, the way I see diversity is fairly simple and the way I see racism is a little more complex. I have grown with diversity all around me, and I have always been open minded and accepting to the diverse society. I am understanding of others thoughts, gender, sexual orientations, etc. However, when I think of racism, it 's a little more multiplex, because everyone goes through different things in life, and not everyone experiences the same things. It also is hard to try empathizing with the different racial discrimination people experience. I am a person who has never been faced with discrimination, therefore I do not know what it may feel like. But I understand that it is a serious impact and can change a person 's
