The Diverse complexity of Social Standings The esteemed Emanuel Cleaver once said, “There is more power in unity than in division.” In the novel “The Outsiders”, by S.E. Hinton, two groups of people with different social statuses try to coexist with each other. Unfortunately, their diverse social standings often get in the way, and they end up physically harming each other. Although the novel is fictional, this problem is very real. Individuals shouldn’t abuse others because of their differences. Citizens in the tiny village of Stirling face the same problem.
