The Dispossessed Quotes

The novel, “The Dispossessed” by Le Guin was about, two planets that were completely different. Anarres did not have a government, whereas for Urras there were multiple states and each with their own government. A man named Shevek decided that he wanted to break the rules of his world and travel to Urras and experience life over there. Shevek grew up on Anarres, a world without a government. “His gentleness was uncompromising; because he would not compete for dominance, he was indomitable” (p. 94); in my opinion, Shevek did not compete for dominance because that does not exist in his planet. Everyone in Shevek planet was treated equally, so it would most likely be difficult for him to have power over others. His goal is to promote friendship between both planets. …show more content…

Nelson Mandela once said that “There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” Although, Nelson Mandela isn’t an actor and doesn’t even have anything to do with the show business he still is an inspiration to many. I relate to this quote in many ways; one way I relate to this quote is that I feel that anyone can accomplish what they want if they try harder. Also, people shouldn’t see themselves as less then what they are, rather they should see themselves as greater. By auditioning for DSA I feel like I am not going to settle with where I am, instead I want to become a greater, stronger, and more intellectual person.…
