When it comes to the topic of immigration, most of us will readily agree that it’s a highly debatable topic. On one side of the argument, Presidential candidate Donald Trump argues that immigrants are no help to our nation’s economy, instead they’re only a problem to worry about. On the other hand, Mexican immigrants contend that they’re only seeking a better lifestyle. In addition, most immigrants migrate to the United States in search of better living conditions and for working opportunities. As presidential candidates begin to launch their campaigns every candidate expresses their view on current issues that need to be taken care of. In one of the campaigns that Republican Donald Trump had launched he spoke about his views on immigration. Trump stated that “Mexico is sending people that have lots of problems… they’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists” (Donald Trump’s attack). In other words, Trump basically insinuates that the majority of Mexican immigrants are dangerous. It just seems so unreal to witness how a prominent Politician humiliates all Mexican immigrants on national television and to a cheering crowd it’s simply inhumane. Donald Trump categorizes all immigrants as being the same when in reality he knows nothing about what each individual stands for. In fact, statics show that it’s nearly impossible for immigrants to commit a crime and be incarcerated. In the article “The Criminalization of Immigration in the U.S” the Government Accountability Office figured out that, “among immigrant prisoners… 65 percent had been arrested for at least once for an immigration violence, 48 percent for drug offense, and 39 percent for traffic violations- all for which are non-violent acts”(Ewing, Martinez, et all). The information gives illustrated that immigrants are involved in different sorts of violations but they don’t necessarily show any kind of criminal behavior. Therefor immigrants aren’t dangerous as people think they are. A small portion of immigrants might cause difficulty to social systems but that doesn’t indicate that young immigrant teens should become a part of that group. The idea that Donald Trump has about immigrants being another problem for our country proves that he isn’t open to innovative changes that won’t benefit the economy. In the article, “Taking Action on Immigration” President Barack Obama shares his point of view on immigrants by stating “we are a nation of immigrants… with strivers who believe in the American Dream. And it gives us a tremendous advantage over other nations... It continuous the promise that here in America, you can make it if you try, regardless of where you come from, regardless of the circumstances of your birth” (“Taking Action”). Basically, what Obama is saying is that America wouldn’t be the country that it is today without the help of immigrants. “Immigrants start small businesses” (“Taking Action”) which shows that not only are immigrants improving their way of life but they’re also helping our nation’s economy. So why hold people back from developing new ideas and pushing …show more content…
First of all there would be a decline in labor working jobs because that’s where the majority of immigrants work. Second, the price value of every working would increase. So when political parties diagnose the pros and cons about legalized immigration they think about the effects it’ll have on their political party. For example, “democrats love this… with millions of new voters… [legal immigrants will make] a Republican national electoral victory mathematically impossible. The other reason they love it is because it replenishes… labor. Republicans hate it… [because] newly legal worker will have more rights, bargaining power and higher pay…” (Wendell). In other words, when evaluating the situation of illegal immigration, it’s actually a benefit to have immigrants. The big picture behind that is the idea that immigrants can be considered as freed slaves because although they’re entitle to doing what they want they’re kind of held back from having more rights than the few they already have. Although it wouldn’t be so beneficial for immigrants they’ll at least be able to live their life like they normally do with certain limitations. While on the other hand the United States will be receiving more benefits by not having to give immigrants better rights. Which for the most part it will have a positive effect on our nation’s
