One chapter from the book that has altered my perspective on professional development was “Chapter Four: What Happens When You Get the Job Offer?” Upon reading this chapter, I was unaware of the amount of power and leverage individuals have in terms of salary negotiations, especially if those individuals are trying to land their first full-time job following graduation. From my understanding, new college graduates are hesitant to request higher pay because they fear missing out on employment opportunities just to earn a better annual salary. Author Don Raskin stated that it is best to sell your qualifications as the reason why you deserve a higher salary (115). In addition, this book really supports the objectives and learning concepts of this course because it teaches students proper personal and professional development strategies. I believe I am better prepared for what to expect when trying to land my first job out of college and I am eager to see what my future entails. I have put my college experiences and part-time job into perspective and I look forward to applying some of the “dirty little secrets” that Don Raskin has suggested in this book in order to secure my dream job and find career
