However, the theme that I interpreted from this production was - hurting the one you love may be inevitable, but if you can work out the differences then there is still hope for love.
For example, Albert Donay and Yvonne Fouchet seemed like a magnificent pairing but the reason for their separation(s) was because Yvonne was being tortured by the amount of love Albert gave her. By the end Albert realized how Yvonne felt and considered other ways to express his love without hurting her. This is just my interpretation of the many possible themes that other audience members could have. The Dinner Party directed by Bryan Freeman was a frustrating yet pleasing production. I enjoyed hearing the audience react to the performance as well as frustrated because I would expect divorce to be no laughing matter. Despite the topic of divorce, the comedic lines were very entertaining. Before going to see the show I expected nothing because it was not something I’d normally watch.
