In the story ‘The Diner Party’ by Mona Gardner there is the hostess, a native boy, Colonist Official, his wife, also other guests. There is a snake, a cobra, in a roomful of people. The Colonist Official saw the hostess suddenly stop. Then the hostess tells the native boy something. The boy's eyes widened. The boy then quickly leaves, then finally comes back with a bowl of milk. He sets the bowl right next to the wall. The Colonist Official figured out the bowl of milk is bait for a cobra. The Colonist Official starts a game. The game's rules are if you move at all in the 300 seconds, the Colonists Official is gonna count for you, you move you owe fifty rupees(money in India). Everyone was still, they didn't move until they all saw the snake
