Humanity has strict views on the differences between selflessness and selfishness, and the actions and characteristic that differentiates the two. (add what differentiates) However, is it selfish to want to be selfless to better one’s self? Touchy questions such as this are the basis of discovering the true meaning of humanity. The texts, The Bhagavad Gita, The Duties of Brotherhood in Islam, and The Book of the City of Ladies, hold selflessness above selfishness to teach people that true prosperity is found by helping others experience happiness.
