Woman in the 1950s’ were usually stay at home mom and marriage was all woman can think of in that time period. A woman is now visibly interested in finishing school and working as an equal to a man. Woman now “earned a 57.4 percent of all bachelor’s degrees”, that proves that woman are now interested in achieving an education. The question is that if women are now making 60% of colleges, what is happening to the men. The truth is that men are no longer as interested in getting an education and decide to go directly into the workforce. Many of the woman know that if they do not get a degree they prospect of getting a job compared to a man are low. Men are questioning the fact of going to college is necessary or if the price is really worth it, knowing that 44.2 million Americans are in debt. Male students tend to do better “on standardized test, but they get lower grades from teachers, a disparity researchers have attributed to their classroom behavior” (Why), it is a well-known fact that women behave better than men. A woman would usually be interested in becoming a teacher or a nurse, knowing that it was not a man’s job. The jobs that a women and men do are exactly the same and we are in the 21 century so men can do a women’s job and vice versa. This country to grew as a nation in order to pass the Equal Rights Amendment passed was in the year 1972. That does not mean that men and women earn the same pay when doing the same job. A woman earns 77 cent compared to a man who earns a dollar, that is 23 cent gap. The slow rate that the wage is going a woman is expected to earn the same as a man in the year 2059. Comparing both man and woman who have the same job are in the same place, in New York a male earns $52,124 and a female earns $46,208. Those 23 cents less are having a great impact on women’s salary. Both genders are doing the same job but are not getting paid the same. Women that have a career have an equal opportunity to get hired but that is not the case when it comes to getting paid. Both genders that have a high school diploma but men get paid $759 and women $586 in a week. When we compare an advance degree that is not a bachelor’s men earn $1,637 and women $1,204.
