The Differences Between Laptops and Tablets

In this day and age, it is difficult to not find someone interacting with technology in some form, whether this is a phone, tablet, computer, ipod, etc. In fact, this has become a part of daily life recently, and most adults have their own personal device to either communicate, work, or relax on. Tablets and computers play a large part in these daily occurrences as well, but what’s the right device to use? Is it just a work computer? Or something to keep the kids occupied while on a long car ride? Laptops and tablets are both great devices, but they have differences that set them apart in the consumer market such as design, portability, control, display, and intended use. How an item is designed plays a part in how it’s intended to be used. A large, bulky computer wouldn’t be ideal for a traveling worker, just as a delicate item shouldn’t be given to a destructive 3 year old who would throw the item across the room and break it. Computers can be purchased in two ways, as a desktop and a laptop. Laptops aren’t trying to cram things onto their screen, they’re already designed to fit, so they don’t have to use as high of a resolution to make images appear sharp. Since tablets are trying to fit the same amount onto their own screens, the same or a lower screen resolution isn’t going to cut it. Developers had to find a way to up the screen resolution. An average tablet has a screen resolution of about 218 pixels per square inch, while the poor laptop is sitting on 116 pixels per square inch.
