Mom! I got into Doane and Wesleyan! This is usually followed by jumping up and down and screaming with joy, but once the shock and happiness wears off a big decision has to be made. Looking at the similarities and differences between the two colleges can make that big decision much easier for all the seniors. Despite Doane and Wesleyan being similar private colleges, they have a couple pronounced differences. The similarities between the two colleges are their price point and livings style, and their differences are their location and scholarship or grant options.

As mentioned before, Doane and Wesleyan charge almost the same price with a $60 difference, so you would think if the rooms are priced the same they would be about the same. Well, you are absolutely right. Doane and Wesleyan offer four different residence halls to incoming freshman. All of the residence halls in both colleges have wifi, cable TV, a lounging area, laundry areas, air conditioning, and kitchen areas. Both colleges require a roommate for your dorm room. Doane and Wesleyan allow you to get paired randomly with a potential roommate or pick a person that you know or have a good connection with. The residence halls also offer suites for any students who would prefer one. All of the suites contain a small kitchen, bathroom, living area, and can house four kids. Doane and Wesleyan have an exceptional greek life programs. Instead of living in a residence hall students could join a fraternity or sorority. Both colleges are relatively small campuses, but are located in different sized towns. Doane is located in a small town called Crete. Crete is around twenty miles outside of Lincoln, Nebraska. Crete has little shops, restaurants, and activities scattered throughout the town, and nothing is too far of a walk. Crete is considered a very calm and close knit community with very little strangers. On the other hand, Wesleyan is located in the complete opposite of Crete, Lincoln. The population of Lincoln is almost forty times the size of Crete, making most of the people in the city strangers. This makes getting places extremely difficult without some type of vehicle. The night life of Lincoln is endless. There is always something going on at any given time. Lincoln is also very diverse and gives a lot of opportunities to meet new people and do adventurous
