Segregation took place in the United States and the Apartheid took place in South Africa. The difference between the two is one was more cultural based and the other took place because of the government, where laws took in place. Segregation was about the difference in races and that they could not interact with one another. The Apartheid was more about strict laws of not being able to mix races and if they wanted to, they had to have a letter saying so even though there were not many white people in South Africa at the time.
There are a few similarities between Segregation and Apartheid but not many. In the article, “Civil Rights vs. Apartheid”, it mentions that “Blacks were being degraded in these movements and they did not have any rights. We as back race always have to fight to get respect and the blacks in America and South Africa fought for their rights” (Takilahh).
