Heart Disease Diet Analysis

I am analyzing the diet of 60 year old male who has the diagnoses of heart disease (irregular heart beats), he is overweight and accompanied by arthritis. He comes from a Guyanese background and prefers his bigger meals to represent his culture. Heart disease is an umbrella term for any type of disorder that affects the heart. The individual has tachycardia and is caused by something that disrupts the normal electrical impulses that control the rate of your heart 's pumping action. Fibre, homocysteine, folic acid and B vitamins and other vitamins and minerals promote heart health. This individual’s original diet contains majority of fruits and does not need drastic modifications but some alterations can be made to promote heart health and to incorporate the ideal serving sizes according to the Canadian food guide.
In total the individual consumes 3 meals a day and 3 snacks. According to the Canadian food guide the original diet plan consist of 9 servings of fruits and vegetables. 3 servings of grains, 1 serving of dairy products, 2 servings of meat and alternatives and two servings of others. The first meal the individual had was breakfast and contained 2 slices of white bread which is 2 servings of grain, 1 tablespoon of strawberry jam, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, which is one serving

The individual had for dinner was one serving of brown rice, eggplant curry, cod fish, and deep fried potatoes, I replaced the rice with whole grain couscous which contain dietary fibre and a good source of protein, baked salmon which is a good source of omega 3, protein, vitamins and minerals. Lastly, instead of regular deep fried potatoes which contain bad oils and fat, I added baked sweet potato, which are high in vitamin intake and promote good
