The pain Mr. Frank feels within himself when he returns to the attic rooms reveal a central theme in “The Diary of Anne Frank: A Play.” In paragraph 6 it states, “his eye is caught by something lying on the floor. It is a woman’s white glove. He holds it in his hand and suddenly all of his self-control is gone. He breaks down, crying.” This piece of evidence that describes the conflict Mr. Frank is feeling helps reveal the theme. He is currently holding this white glove that once belonged to his wife or kids (which are dead), that bring a feeling of bitterness and hoplessness. He misses them a lot. Also, in paragraph 15 it states, “I can’t stay in Amsterdam, Miep. It has too many memories for me. Everywhere there’s something…” This states that if he goes back to any place that the Frank family has been together, the memories the family had together would go back to him. When the memoreies go back to Mr. Frank then he would get even more sad.

It is ANNE’S VOICE.] This is the part when the stage directions in the play introduce and describe Anne. I think Anne is introduced in this way so we can first learn a little about her (also that she is dead, which means this is play is now reffering to the past). Evenmore, since she is already dead we can get an image in our heads, which is like a flashback of her
