Personally, Max Lucado explains this verse with a better perspective through His Devotional Bible, “Wise people’s minds tell them what to say, and that helps them become better teachers” (Proverbs 16:23). I heard a sermon once explain that knowledge is learned, but wisdom comes from God. Many people have book knowledge, however; only a few have the spiritual gift of wisdom, which is truly given by God and this wisdom allows them to become better teachers because it is of God. I do believe we need to be intentional with our words in every aspect of our lives.
