“Modern-day Witch Hunts: Broadly targeting the Muslim Community is antithetical to America’s founding ideas” The general argument made by Jamie Dailey in “Modern-day Witch Hunts: Broadly targeting the Muslim Community is antithetical to America’s founding ideas” is that all Muslims are being besieged after the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001. More specifically, Dailey reasons that the fears that Americans hold are irrational in that they cause a light to be shown on the entire Muslim community in response to the attacks of terrorism that occurred on September 11. Literate Arts can be fine for explaining a variety of historical, crucial events. Richard E. Miller, author of The Dark Night of The Soul employs texts to display how the literate arts can be beneficial for emphasizing the importance of historical catastrophic events. Moreover, Miller employed a variety of “how,” and “why” questions and how to respond to them in his writing to the public to engage them in a conversation and question their views on the literate arts. Furthermore, Miller asks questions about historical events that have happened over time and probably impacted billions of civilians, which in my opinion is one thing the literate arts is excellent at describing.…

The Devil has been portrayed in thousands of stories, shows and movies. How this character appears varies from story to story. Some show the Devil as a red man with horns, others as a normal person. “Young Goodman Brown”, which portrays the Devil as the later, is about how everyone is sinful, while “The Man in the Black Suit”, which portrays the Devil as more of the former, is about how the Devil comes for us all. While both “Young Goodman Brown” and “The Man in the Black Suit” show the danger of Devil like figures, they both have different risks involved, demonstrating that stories with similar antagonists can still have very different themes.…

Dark romanticism tends to be know with the idea of darkness in human souls, the concept of sin, or a certain dark outlook on society in general. An Example of a Dark Romantic piece is “The Devil and Tom Walker,” by Washington Irving. Romantic literature, such as 'The Devil and Tom Walker,' often references the supernatural. In the story Tom is haunted by a man who he calls the devil. It was not uncommon for people of this era to believe that one could make deals with the devil in a horrible fashion, but the other portion of that belief always stated that the price paid by those who did such deals were too great, meaning one had to sacrifice one's soul in order to receive the promised benefits from Satan himself.…

The archetypal theme of selling your soul to the devil has been in practice for centuries back. The willingness for someone to sell their soul in exchange for something they desire or what they most want in life and not always do they have another choice and that’s when they decide to not work for what they want and go the easy way to having fame, power, revenge and beauty.
