The Importance Of Learning

There are many different ways in which people learn. With the development of learning styles, we as teachers are able to try to teach incorporating all of these styles. Fazzaro et al. (2009) states that understanding the role of learning style in the learning process is an important concept for those committed to meeting the demands being placed on education and their own personal commitment to learning excellence. For teachers to meet the demands of classrooms in today 's society, educators must be prepared to use a variety of instructional methods to meet all learning preferences. When I reflect upon my own learning preference I realize that I am a visual learner. I have always been someone that makes maps or graphic organizers in order …show more content…
However, there is always the chance that you will get a couple group members that are unmotivated and one or two of the members do the majority of the work. Regardless of the members that are in my groups, I always seem to learn a thing or two about education. Looking at my last year 's class, I would say my class loved group work. I believe that 's because when you are a third grader, most of the students just wanted to be with their friends or do the least amount of work …show more content…
When I plan my lessons I notice that I tend to gravitate more to the visual learners. I know that for some students visual learning is not their first choice in learning, but for me it is the easiest. I put a great deal of effort into planning lessons that incorporate different learning preferences. I am such a visual learner that sometimes without an example to go by, I feel like I cannot complete a task. I always feel like I need an example for my students to see in everything we do. Sometimes they are content without it, but I know that if I were doing the assignment I would need one. The disadvantage to always providing them an example is that they lose their individual expression, especially in art because they try to make their projects look just like

In high school, we were constantly being told that we could not work in groups because we would get too loud. In university group work was encouraged so that our professors wouldn't have to do as much marking. During my observations at my CSL there was a lot of group work. Comparing when the students were working on group work to their individual work, the results were polar opposites. The tasks for students was to write down what they knew about 5 sided figures.…

Students learn in multiple ways and education isn’t one size fits all. While one student may thrive when you teach visually another may struggle to learn anything visually. Teaching is almost like a juggling act, but which elements should you juggle? When I was a first-year teacher I envisioned myself at the front of the classroom talking with my diligent fifth-grade students who were quickly taking notes and absorbing every word I was speaking. After my first day as a teacher that dream came to a screaming halt and I had to rethink my whole teaching approach.…

Not all learning styles can fit into a specific situation, there are times when a kinesthetic style is better than an aural. By becoming proficient in all learning styles, I would become flexible in all learning situations. The student should be able to shift towards the professors teaching styles in addition to exceling in their learning environment. Now, I work the best with the aural, kinesthetic, and read/write learning styles, with the weakest like being the visual learning style. By taking the content learned to the next level by shifting it across learning styles, I would gain a greater understanding towards it.…

The Oxford dictionary states that self-awareness is the “conscious knowledge of one’s own character and feelings” and it is the necessity of this quality within team formation and development that I will evaluate throughout this essay. I aim to review the techniques by which we may become self-aware and review their connection to team development… Before we can discuss the importance of self-awareness we first have to look into how we can achieve this knowledge. It is said that self-awareness can be realised by completing a series of tests based on theoretical models. One of these models was created by Honey and Mumford (1982); they identified four learning styles or preferences: • Activist – learn best in new experiences, prefer short tasks…

The natural sciences are very much paradigmatic in nature. As outlined by Thomas Kuhn, the natural sciences are revolutionary as opposed to “normal”; Kuhn argues that in “normal science”, scientific progress is limited to the scope of the current paradigm itself. Revolutionary science deals with paradigm shifts, in which there is a change in the basic assumptions of a scientific theory. Paradigmatic thinkers, however, are often disregarded and brushed off due to their dynamic views. For example, the earth was thought to be flat for was widely accepted until Pythagoras introduced a spherical model.…

By helping, supporting and motivating each other it made the project easier to solve and it helped us in achieving our work in the most effective time and ways. Here are some points I loved about the experience, firstly being a part of a group helped in developing my skills and we were able to achieve more work than in working individually. Secondly, we had more time to manage and plan. Thirdly I developed more communicating skills and team commitment and also I had more exchange of information between myself and our group members.…
