The condition of the South was terrible after the Civil War. Almost all infrastructure was destroyed as a result of the war. Farm fields were also completely ruined. Although the mass destruction, the Reconstruction was an important part of America’s history. The Reconstruction was necessary because it taught Americans that when we start wars within our own country, we needed to pick up the pieces, and started over in the south.
