Macbeth is a tragic hero who ruins himself by his own wicked and selfish ambitions. Macbeth was told by the witch’s three prophecies which were thane of Glamis, thane of Cawdor, and soon to be king of Scotland. After the second prophecy came true Macbeth made becoming king of Scotland his priority. In particular, this is shown when Macbeth killed Duncan because he and his wife decided that if they do so Macbeth would fulfill the last prophecy and achieve his ambition.
