According to a success survey of a 50 year old African American Male with a college degree named Tim, the definition of success is working within a group towards a common goal, achieving that goal and knowing that maximum potential was reached. When asked if he considers himself a successful man, he replies with a definite yes as he requires himself to reach his best every day in order to lead by example as others follow. He feels that in order to be successful, an individual has to love what they do and discover their true happiness. For him, happiness is time with friends and family in which he has two sons to wake up as a proud father and begin leading as soon as the 6:30 alarm goes off for work. As he goes to work every day as a logistics plant manager, he believes others view him as successful as his job is not an individual achievement; however, an entire team to see the success in one another. According to the response to a future questionnaire administered to an eleventh grader named Matt, success is described as accomplishing goals. Tying into that idea, he continued on to describe happiness as an inevitable feeling that should exist within an individual at all times. Looking ahead, in five years from now, Anthony sees himself graduating from a division one school off of a full ride scholarship for football. Five more years following that, he envisions himself living in a ten-story loft in which the interior will be designed entirely by him. 40 years after that, he sees himself with a wife, kids, dog, and a mansion with a clear view of the ocean. Anthony states how his visions may seem common among the ideas of others; however, everything in his future, he describes as a reward for his hard work. He feels his dreams have never been more vivid than at this stage of his life knowing that his success is determined by how much effort he puts forth every day until the opportunity comes along to bring those dreams to reality. Until that time comes, he understands that he must work day in and day out at becoming more of a gentleman, exercising his gift of creativity, and obtaining open heartedness to love and cherish the opportunities given unto him.
