Math Survey

When reviewing the survey the first thing I noticed was that there were a lot of leading questions or close ended questions. For example, in question 23 when first giving the definition of math anxiety it seems that most people would say yes, whether they truly felt they had it or not prior to looking at the question. In addition, asking more than one question within a question leads to confusion and the inability to answer it straight forward. For example, in question 24 when asking if the participant had ever had a class discussing any of several theorists listed. If you are taking a course in sociological theory most likely you have had one with the named theorists. Once again the survey is setting the participant up for a definite …show more content…
As well as not providing the answer before the question. It seems there is no direction in the survey or purpose of the survey. The line of questioning is all over the place and in order to pin point an accurate result there needs to be a purpose. In addition, there needs to be more specific wording used. There is so much room to roam, so to speak. Such as in question 30 when asking about the president’s policies, one can’t simply answer that with the options provided, considering there is more than one policy. If the question was asking about a specific policy then there would be a concrete way to answer that. Changing the wording so that it is not so intrusive would help as well. Moving on to correcting five of the questions:
1. Do you support the murder of unborn children by Abortionists?
a. In regards to abortion do you consider yourself pro –choice, against or choose not to answer
2. Don’t you agree with our President and think we should increase military aid to governments that fight communists and terrorists?
a. Should we increase military aid to governments that fight

Are politicians dishonest?
4. Do you think that it is wise to cut spending on social programs and increase military spending?
a. Should the government cut spending on social programs to increase military spending?
5. Do you favor the legalization of “pot” and similar harmful drugs that young people abuse and increase drug addiction?
a. Do you think legalizing marijuana would increase addiction risks to other substances with the youth? This survey would not produce reliable data as it is presented due to the variations of data provided. There is no reliability in the questions and the answers. A lot of the questions are built to get a specific answer; therefore, can’t be used to get an accurate count. If the study was used and a retest was given, a person could answer differently based on how they are feeling that day. There is no validity in the survey provided. The survey is not testing someone’s true thought because they are presented in a bias way. There are multiple questions and no concrete yes, no, or scale charts to compile accurate data from. There is no relationship between reliability and validity. A lot of the questions cannot be answered in a fair and unbiased fashion making the survey a

In the beginning, we lost a couple of survey results because we forgot to check the surveys and how to fill them in properly. In the future, we should double check that the survey is working to prevent losing data. Something that went well was that the survey takers did not eat the samples and just leave. They were thoroughly engaged with the activity and took into consideration of all the different qualities we asked them to concentrate on. Another thing that we could’ve done differently was to put the surveys near the samples so the responders could remember which one they ate.…

Synthesis Essay The legalization of marijuana is a conflict that can be seen from many different points of views; from legalization of both recreational and medical reasons to being illegal as a whole. Some may argue that marijuana would ineffectively decrease crime rates in the United States, but statistically this is not the case. Some may also argue that marijuana should not be legalized for the sake of this generation's future, because they would become a “guinea pig generation,” marijuana should most definitely be legalized nationally for both medical and recreational purposes because the drug can promote a better American economy. Statistically, marijuana would not affect any teenagers in high school, and it has been proven that marijuana…

The article that I found interesting and it is related to my topic is “Immigrant Environmental Behaviors in New York City” by Max J. Pfeffer and J. Mayone Stycos, Cornell University. The goal of the research is to compare environmental behaviors of immigrants and the native born to answer questions about potential impacts of immigration in the US environment. I chose this article because it awakes another topic in the already problematic social issue called immigration which most of the people has discuss about it. I believe this is awaking an idea from the no-immigrants trying to blame the environment contamination on immigrants besides.…

The survey method was selected on the basis that it is easy to administer and cost-efficient. This meant that the process of collecting information was not expected to be strenuous and the collection of data was expected to be achieved from a relatively large number. Another important aspect noted with reference to surveys is that an extensive range of data can be determined and collected in a more appropriate way. Some of the relevant measures of data that were considered when selecting a survey as the appropriate data collection method include beliefs, attitudes, factual, behavior, opinions, and values of the study…

9). Declaration from Salant and Dillman (1994, p. 77) states that emotionally and biased questions affect survey’s credibility and make responses to the question useless. The design of posed questionnaires should determine the validity of the survey (Capanelli, 1996). Repetitive questions and consistency in responses allow the determination for reliability. When assessing for a program evaluation, ensuring reliability of instruments to be utilized must be prioritized.…

As we asked the survey face to face the authenticity was improved because if we had done the survey through google forums people could have given us unnecessary answers which were not useful. There are some downsides of doing this face to face such as the amount of time which it takes to collect the data, as we needed to spend about 5 hours outside YoYo Yogurt to complete our quota. This meant that we had less time to complete the rest of the task. If we had done the survey by google forums we would have been able to complete the task whilst waiting for the surveys to have been completed electronically. In the survey we had a total of 16 questions, with 9 closed question, 4 open questions and 3 scale questions.…

It is very common to defer from the main concept when surveying participants but the face validity test will make sure that doesn’t happen. When conducting a survey with real life participants, it is very important to maintain good ethical circumstances. To keep these circumstances during my study, I will first tell the students about the surveys before giving them out.
