Veto Limitations

“To understand political power right, and derive it from its original, we must consider, what state all men are naturally in, and that is, a state of perfect freedom to order their actions, and dispose of their possessions and persons, as they think fit, within the law of nature, without asking leave, or depending upon the will of any other man.” This quote is from John Locke who acknowledges that if the federal government had unlimited power, it would make the country conducive to tyranny. His statement suggests a limited government, in which the government has no right to force a parent to get a license before having a child. One can agree with John’s Locke sentiment that parents should not be required to have a license because parenting is subjective, it is an unethical idea, and not all abused children follow the wrong path. Parenting is a subjective art form because it incorporates the philosophy of how to raise a child by each of the parent’s point of view, and the personality of the child. The child might need a mellow lecture, a raised timbre, or a “tried-and-true discipline” act. (Source A) In other words, parents try to steer their descendants into the right path by different ways. The used methods vary according to the uniqueness of the child. For instance, in my family of six, I see how each of my siblings are disciplined a distinct way.
