The Deception Of Macbeth's Character

In the beginning, it tells us that Macbeth is in a battle and it gives an impression of him being a brave and courageous warrior/hero. As the play goes on, he starts to get ambitious about the prophecy of him being the future king if he kills the current one. This gives us an insight on how far people will go for power and what the consequences would be. Macbeth's character can be generalized in three main categories: easily manipulated, indecisive, and a stickler for the negative/"little things". Macbeth can be considered as a heartless killer intent on his own advancement because the only reason why any of this happened was because he would be future king. Within this statement, Macbeth was trying to get to the throne without inheriting it and so that can support it. Another character choice could be that he is a man easily manipulated by his wife. Lady Macbeth is very pushing and she can basically control him. When he was doubting the plan, she mocked and questioned his manhood and that pushed him into doing the act of crime. Lady Macbeth said "I have given suck" and would "dash the brains out" and this basically describes her nursing her baby and then killing it if she made a promise to do so. So she is saying that if someone made an oath to do something they have to follow through and that empathizes on how she is persuading Macbeth to continue on with the plan. Macbeth could also be a man driven by fate because it was in his prophecy to do so, if the three witches never told him his future, none of this would've ever happened.
