The world around us is constantly changing. How we interact with the world around us evolves over time. Technology has forever changed our world and will continue to do so. Technology is not going anywhere and should be incorporated in all aspects of our education. Haven and Keller show different aspects of the debate of academic writing in this new era of technology. Keller points out there are positive and negative affects of technology in academic writing. Haven and Keller both understand the data is up for debate and there is more research that needs to be done. Keller talks about not pushing aside the new writing that has been forged by technology. We as a culture must continually adapt our education to best prepare students for the real world and continually invest into our peoples education. Our society is in a new era of writing being essential to communication. With so many people using technology to communicate it is essential to strengthen those skills. Keller said, “people write more now than ever, in order to interact with the web you have to write”(8). Writing has become the mainstream way to communicate with family, friends or any audience. Every generation has a a different way to communicate with the use of technology. Writing with morris code to the typewriter has shaped the generation using the technology.
