Overcrowded Prisons

Capital Punishment is where convicted offenders are sentenced to death for the most serious crimes. The offenses and crimes are suitable for the death penalty. These crimes are usually crimes such as murder. Statutes that the Congress prescribes along with any state legislature defines these death sentences. When it comes to Capital Punishment, I agree with having it. The family of the victims gets closure, criminals are shown more sympathy than victims without it, and it contributes to the overpopulation problem and the escapees and parole chance. Family can finally get closure in knowing the person(s) who killed their loved one will be punished for their crime in killing. Giving these criminals prison sentences over the death penalty lets …show more content…
Overcrowding in prisons is a big problem that the United States is facing. Overcrowding is at an all-time high and it is happening nationwide. According to Time Magazine, “Crowded prisons are more likely to have riots and inmate-on-inmate violence, including sexual assaults”. With overcrowding being a problem we should use the death penalty as a main solution for criminals who murder other people. The death penalty also solves the problem with parole and criminals who escape. When a criminal kills and is found guilty the death sentence should be given to them. When they are given the death penalty they will not have the chance for parole. These murderers will also be under maximum surveillance before their death and therefore they will not be able to escape. If we let murderers escape or get out of prison we give them the change to kill again. I am okay with having a murder on death row, but I am not okay with having a murderer walking. This could be from parole or the fact that they escaped either way they do not deserve …show more content…
When it comes down to it the death penalty should be used more often to get justice for these victims and their families. Many people argue today that the death penalty has killed innocent people. That being true that will not happen today. With science being as advance as it is today innocent men and women will no longer be sent to death for a crime they did not commit. With that being said the real criminal can be brought to justice so the victim and the victim’s family can have it too. Many families of the victim argue against the death penalty because they do not agree with it. I believe however that they should face the death penalty, but that is not how things should work out. Just because one person wants it does not mean that it should happen. If the judge gives the criminal the death sentence the family of the victim should be able to decide whether they would like that or life imprisonment. The family and the victim deserves justice and it should he whatever can help these families to begin to

Adherents of this position favor that there should be a law that allows for capital punishment, but it should be rarely used. Those in favor of this qualified position propose that the death penalty should only be used if the victim’s family wants the murderer to be sentenced to death, if the murderer has escaped prison before, or if the murderer is a serial killer. The reasons a proponent of this position has is that listening to the victim’s family might keep them at ease a little more knowing that they got some type of closure. Another reason someone with the beliefs of this position has is that if someone has already escaped prison before, then he or she should be given the death penalty because that person might be able to escape again. It would give the citizens a feeling of safety knowing a potential threat will not be on the loose again.…

If someone is to commit murder people will want to see the person be punished, and most will favor and push for the death penalty. Society tries to eliminate crime and seek justice by having capital punishment, but these factors lead to wrong decision making. Once people notice the gravity of a situation they become subjective and it can cause the authorities to wrongfully accuse an innocent person of a crime. For example, if multiple children are murdered, the parents and the communities will seek authorities to find the person responsible, which they should, but it can cause the authorities to hastily accuse one of being the “cold-blooded killer.” There was a case where this happened, “the legend of Cropsey became disturbingly real with the psychopath Rand, who used to be a physical therapist at Willowbrook. From his various secret lairs, he would maneuver and plan his kidnappings and murders, such as that of Jennifer Schweiger, Holly Hughes, and Tiahese Jackson” (Elshamy).…

The convicted killers even admitted that they had no hesitation in killing the first time and they would have no hesitation killing again. We need to consider our safety and stop these killers from committing more murders. Many people who are against the death penalty, of course, may want to question whether there is an alternative way to protect society without the use of capital punishment. Such as, putting the criminals in prison for life. Though I concede that putting away the felons can help, I still insist that murderers get the death penalty because it is the only way to 100% guarantee that they will never kill again.…

From my understanding, it is supposed to make criminals not commit crimes in order to get on death row but this hasn 't worked and will not work. Laws are intended to correct, by definition laws can’t obey, or isn’t intended to imitate or reproduce that nature of man. (Bedau, Cassell) The law says we can 't follow or obey the nature of man that 's exactly what we 're doing by following through with Capital Punishment. The by putting people on death row and to kill them is exactly what they did was murder because you 're taking someone 's life. This should be the start in stopping the Death Penalty because it 's morally wrong just like murdering is but just because it 's run by the government and the justice system doesn’t make it okay!…
