I’m not very fond of killing even a fly but there are plenty of cases and very brutal examples when it would be better to have such right. I read a few articles which have shown me that there are dozens of people whose attitude toward the death penalty is just like mine. They think it is necessary to chastise murderers and criminals using such radical and brutal methods. Though, on the other hand, there are people who say that punishing people with the death penalty is just not moral, even for those who have committed a chain of serious crimes.

The death penalty is a very popular way of punishment in the USA. Both criminals and their families are terribly afraid when it comes to the death sentence, because electric chairs are not as good as Americans want them to be. In the past, there were some cases in which a man was literally aflame and he blew after 10 minutes of sitting on the electric chair... It’s completely mind blowing. It’s against any rules and totally immoral at least to me. Just imagine the faces of families watching their son or daughter being burnt, steaming, and almost exploding right in front of their own eyes! What a horrifying

Capital punishment or the death penalty, has been used in the United States since the country’s founding in 1776. Back then, executions were performed publically throughout towns, and have been controversial from the beginning. I find the death penalty to be an extremely arbitrary and primitive act that should not be practiced anymore. We are at an advanced time in society and the U.S. is the only english speaking country to still practice this cruel and unusual act.…

I am writing this letter to convey my thoughts over the issue of the death penalty. The death penalty continues to be a matter of dispute and will be argues in the States for many years. The death penalty is currently used by 27 states and is used by the federal government for punishing federal crimes. However, in Texas, the death penalty should be banned, and instead of executing these criminals, the state of Texas should sentence them to life in prison. By abolishing death penalty, and instead of executing criminals, simply sentencing them for life in prison can help the United States save a significant amount of money.…

Arguments for and against the death penalty are presented from several moral, religious, legal and discriminatory perspectives in the film Dead Man Walking that are further argued in more detail in the novel Capital Punishment on Trial written by David M. Oshinsky. While I am opposed to the death penalty for its historically racist implications, I can understand the desire to use it for extremely horrendous cases. There were many arguments presented in favor of the death penalty in the film Dead Man Walking, specifically from the victim's lawyer who argued Matthew Poncelet was not a good person for raping a young girl and shooting a boy to death. Hope’s parents advocated for the death penalty and called Matthew’s actions incomparable to animals because animals do not kill and rape their own kind. Therefore, the lawyer declared the death penalty to be the only way to achieve justice for the victims and their families.…

The key features of the argument on supporting the death penalty developed by Ernest Van Den Haag first focuses on matters of mal-distribution and determining if an individual really deserves it, second the miscarriages of justice, third if the death penalty is a better deterrence than other punishments, fourth the incidental issues that the death penalty promotes, and fifth justice, excess, and degradation. The first argument that Ernest Van Den Haag argues is on the matter of mal-distribution, and determining whether an individual really deserves capital punishment. He expresses his view that mal-distribution being compared between those individuals who are guilty or innocent is undeserved. The acts of capital punishment upon an individual who knowingly commits a crime and is considered guilty in that sense deserves the punishment. However, on the other hand he considers that when mal-distribution is then put upon an innocent life that did not commit the crime but is considered guilty is seen as than unjust.…

The death penalty is a controversial topic which receives a great deal of criticism from parties on both sides of the argument. Some suggest that it is morally sound on the basis of an eye-for-an-eye ideology, while others argue that its inherent hypocrisy makes the act illegitimate. By examining and analyzing Igor Primoratz’s A Life for a Life and its argument in support of the death penalty, I will attempt to both explain and discredit his argument on the grounds that murder ought not justify murder. Igor Primoratz’s central argument is that there is no equivalent punishment to murder, which is why in cases of murder, the death penalty is justified. Simply imprisoning someone who committed such a heinous crime as murder does not equate…

Expunge the Death Penalty “To take a life when a life has been lost is revenge, not justice”, Desmond Tutu. The death penalty is one of the most violent punishments. Even though the death penalty rids society of the criminal forever, the death penalty can have many negative effects. The death penalty is more expensive than life in prison, does not deter murders, lowers the value of life, can be a product of racism, and people can be wrongfully convicted, without time to be proven innocent. The death penalty brings out heavy emotion, regardless of which way you believe.…

The Death Penalty Evan Garrett East Fairmont High School Advanced Placement Language and Composition 5th Mrs.Hudson 9/28/17 Introduction Even though the death penalty may or may not be moral and there are many negative effects to it, the death penalty should be used more because the death penalty may be deterrent to stop people from committing crimes and for each prisoner put to death three through eighteen lives are saved. The death penalty system is not perfect, it has some negative effects when used, but this should not stop us from using it. The negative effects of the death penalty should just be worked with until they are fixed, because the positive effects of the death penalty greatly outweigh the downsides.…
