The amount of people consistently on the Net is at an all time high. More and more information is being shared and more and more people are able to communicate from any distance to one another. In 2006, the National Center for Educational Statistics published an article by R.W. Bybee named Internet Access in U.S. Public Schools and Classrooms. This article was based off a study conducted in 2005 from various public schools. The study found that nearly 100 percent of public schools in the United states have access to the internet. It also found that “Eighty-seven percent of schools report using high-quality digital content for teaching (i.e. learning materials brought in from the Web, such as digital libraries and museums, or any text, images, sounds, and video that have been digitized).” (Bybee) It also found that nearly a third of schools provide access to students to online learning for courses that are otherwise not offered at the school. The internet is being integrated into people’s lives at a young age via schools and it allows for better teaching opportunities and more course options to students. It gives students access to as much information as they can find as opposed to being limited to whatever physical text that school has to offer. This is only possible because of the information sharing capabilities that the internet has to offer. Instead of wasting time flipping through pages of books, …show more content…
One thing is for sure though, the internet isn’t going away. On that note, however, the internet is sure to bring even more useful tools to the human race. In 2014 Bridget Shirvell found some information on this topic. She found that Pew Research Center’s Internet Project and Edon University brought some predictions over the future of the internet and what it will be like 10 years from now. They predicted that the internet will become so integrated into our lives that it will be “invisible”. Like electricity itself, less visible and more important in everyday life. They also predicted artificial intelligence will become integrated and make people more aware of the world and their own behavior. They also wrote, “The spread of the internet will enhance global connectivity, fostering more positive relationships among societies.” (Shirvell) These are just a few of the many ways that the internet will continue to change our lives for the
