In Steve Martin’s piece of writing, “The Death of My Father,” Martin expresses little to know loving affection. Martin and his father did not express their love to one another in words, but in actions. “During my teenage years, there was little said to me that was not criticism.” (1) Martin’s father would criticize him because he wanted a child that would be everything that he wanted to be.
