Louise, while in Josephine’s arms, experienced a brief downpour of bereavement. Furthermore, when she retired to her room, she continued to weep for a short time. Louise knew that her husband would no longer live for her in the course of those years to come. She knew the years were completely hers. She could now live how she wanted to live. She would no longer be controlled by her husband. Louise kept whispering, “Free! Body and soul free!” (Chopin 284) She was happily thinking of every single day. She imagined how she would be able to go out into the world. She prayed for long life while thinking back on the time she contemplated how life might be too long. At that moment, her sister Josephine commanded her to open the door. Louise then exited the room feeling victorious. I think if Louise really loved her husband, instead of feeling victory she would have felt
