The Black Dahlia Murder is one of the top 10 most famous unsolved crimes in the United States. Also one of the most famous in LA based on the awfulness of what happened.
Elizabeth Short was an aspiring actress from Boston and she moved to Los Angeles to make sure her dreams came true, but ironically, it wasn’t until her death when she really became famous. Her body was found January 15th, 1947 in a lot near present day Leimert park. Her body was cut clean in half at the waistline with extensive mutilation with multiple other cuts all over the body. The murder has drained had drained every ounce of blood in her body to make sure there was none at the crime scene where Elizabeth’s body has found. Lastly her body was arranged in such a way it

For that reason is why the Black Dahlia is such a popular and interesting case. The main reason the Black Dahlia Murder is not a witch hunt is because no one charged for murdering Elizabeth Short (Black Dahlia). Even though some people were accused but no one ever actually went to prison for the crime. Many people spent time trying to find suspects, “police worked in tandem with the press to find disseminate clues in hopes of locating a suspect”(The Black Dahlia). The Los Angeles couldn’t find proper evidence so the men that were suspects were let go because they couldn’t be charged for a murder that the police have no evidence that they actually did it.
The Black Dahlia is very interesting and it’s truly sad the way Elizabeth was killed. At least she was famous like she always wanted. This case was not a witch hunt because no one was charged for the murder of Elizabeth Short. Even though people were accused and there was some suspects and also the police department received an anonymous letter from the killer, they could never figure out who did it and that is why i believe it's not a witch hunt.
This case relates to the Salem Witch Trials and The Red Scare because they thought that many people committed the crime. Also with a murder of this kind of intensity, it scares a lot people causing panic because no one wants to die that
