“I had looked upon your face so many times before, but it had looked so different from this lifeless object with its unseeing eyes and unsmiling lips.” At that very moment is when I realized that the life you live can be taken from you at any moment. No matter how good of a life you live, no matter how much you pray, and no matter how healthy you are, death is all around, whether you are ready or not. Your loved ones can be snatched from under you without a moments notice. It is something that is hard to understand not just for me but for everybody, when God is ready to take you home, he is ready. As a young adult fresh out of the house I had no care in the world about anyone or anything but myself. I wanted to live and break the rules while not having to worry about being questioned about where I was or what I was doing. In my mind I thought that the worst had already happened, what could possibly get me down now? As I began on this young reckless path, life had its way of slapping me in the face. It was September 10, 2015 which I thought was like any other day. I was eating lunch talking to my friends about the upcoming weekend and all of the fun plans that we had. All of a sudden my phone started ringing, I looked at the screen and read the name “Mama”. I slid the green answer button over only for my ears to be overwhelmed with the sound of my mother’s tears.
