The Death Of My Life

Improved Essays
This is about me realizing that life does end and people do die and that we do not live forever. From the beginning I always thought that people never died and that we would always be together, but that thought came to an end real fast. Yes, people do die, but I never thought it would happen to my family. We were all fine and dandy no health issues no drama, the perfect family. But then it happened, I was not born yet, but my sister was and she said “that it was the hardest time for the family and especially for mommy”. My uncle passed away from thigh cancer. This man was the comedian of the family and knew how to bring a smile to your face or so I heard. My grandmother, who I am named after, left this world two years ago. Here’s the story of how the women who held this family together passed away out of nowhere. It was the summer of my sixteenth birthday. A day I looked forward since I was a young girl because it’s when I get to have a Sweet Sixteen. My mother and grandmother planned the whole thing and I was so excited my face lit up like a star in the sky. July 6, was coming up soon and I couldn’t be more happy. But there always has to be a point of disappointment and that night before my party was it. My grandmother was feeling sick and her stomach was in pain she could not take it anymore, so she went to go a check up. What they found was stomach cancer in it’s last stage, so nothing could be done and she only had a short amount of time to live. I was beyond devastated like this strong, hard working woman was going to die right before our eyes. All I thought was why, what did I do to deserve this, why my grandmother, why now. She was suppose to live forever and stay with me to see my graduation. But, no God had other plans to take her sooner. So my Sweet Sixteen did happen and went without a pinch. Everything was fine and she was actually feeling fine but then November came around and things went downhill. At this time I was back at school in Hershey, Pennsylvania ready to come home for Thanksgiving

Sitting there shocked as any child who received this type of news would have. See my grandfather had a long history of alcohol addiction and had been in and out of hospitals before so while shocking, his passing was not out of nowhere. One failed liver, and a few days later I sat on my bed thinking, not sad anymore just at odds.…
