Right To Die Speech

THUMP-SWISH! THUMP-SWISH! This is the sound the ventilator makes as it sustains you life. To those crowded around you in your very small hospital room it feels as if it is counting away the seconds of your life. Every second begins to feel like days for your parents, grandparents, friends, family, girlfriend/boyfriend, and all those that hold you dear to their heart. Mother is laying over your bed, holding you and crying as you lay lifelessly in her arms while the doctors inform your family that you are now in a coma one much different than the other classifications of a coma. You’re family is being told you are in a persistent vegetative state (PVS). You heart slowly tugs along; however, you are completely brain dead. You will never be able to share anything else with your family. The rest of your ‘life’ will be spent laying in that bed, unable to do anything not even think. Your family will have to watch your lifeless body slowly wither away into a waxy, skeleton figure while you steadily die. What does the Right-to-Die mean? Do you know or have you ever known someone terminally ill? If not, picture the most important person in your life, imagine them being terminally ill an unexplainable amount of pain, close your eyes, count to ten, and then open your eyes.
