Reason For Abortion Essay

In the years 1960 through 1962, a total of 876 abortions occurred. The following years, the number continued to grow to a total of 1,608,620 in 1990. Within those thirty years, at least 26,729,883 babies were killed through the process of abortion. That number is not including all the illegal abortions that were performed, and all the abortions done on pregnant women who were possibly going to expect twins. This also means that around 26,729,883 families were told the news that they could not adopt a child (Johnston). I can only imagine the devastated feeling a woman would have when she is told she cannot have a child, then to find out that she could have adopted one of the many babies that were aborted. If I was that woman, my heart would …show more content…
Nicole, age of nineteen, says “When I had the ultrasound, I asked for the picture and a nurse said, ‘Seriously?’ A month later, he said he regretted it too. When I cry about it, I cry alone. He thinks it would make me sad to talk about, but I don’t want our baby to think we forgot.” Nicole is one of the many women who pray that they could undo their abortion (Winter). A few women comment that it was the side effects that made them to regret it. Aborting a child is followed with chronic cramping, bleeding, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and possible death. If the abortion is in the later terms, then there is chance for infection to set up and damage to the reproductive system causing the mother to not be able to carry a child ever again (Abortion Health Risks and Side-Effects). An unknown mother wrote, “How can God ever forgive someone like me? He gave me a blessed gift and I just threw it back at him. What kind of a monster am I? I deserve to die. Why did I think this wouldn’t affect me? Why did I think it would be so easy? What’s wrong with me? God, please forgive me and help me.” This is a forty years old response the morning after taking the pile to kill her “sack of potatoes.” When she went in for the abortion, the gynecologist said it would be like killing a sack of potatoes because the forty-year-old …show more content…
When a man or woman kills an innocent human being, he or she gets labeled as a murder and has to serve jail time. Is a mother killing an innocent unborn child protected under the ERA and UVVA, the same thing? To answer that question properly, I will ask another question. At what time can the doctors detect a heartbeat? A heartbeat can be detected at the earliest of eight weeks. Therefore, the mothers getting abortions around fourteen weeks via the “abortion pill,” are literally murdering their child. They have no punishment besides the harmful and possibly permanent side effects of an abortion. Those side effects do not come close to the brutality of jail. I am a firm believer that mothers who end their child’s life through abortion, should have to serve jail time. Not only is she keeping the child from enjoying life, she is also keeping a family who cannot have children, from enjoying the life of that child. So many women are told they cannot have kids. I was raised in an environment where kids are little bundle of joys. It means everything to many women around the world to be able to look at a child and say, “I made you.” For the women out there that cannot enjoy the thought of being able to say that, they can say, “I rescued you.” Those two sayings sound much better than saying, “I hated you before I even saw you.” I believe the women who aborted their baby, would not have had an abortion if they would have known how

The author also discusses her own battles with an abortion that she had. She states that the morning sickness made it difficult to take care of her two toddlers. She uses a lot of other excuses to her decision such as she didn’t know who the father was, she was depressed and she was poor. She basically says she wasn't in the best place in life to have another child and she made a personal decision that would change…

In one hour roughly 114 babies are aborted. There are approximately two babies aborted each minute. That means right now a woman could be aborting her unborn child in the United States. In 2012, there had been recorded 58,586,256 abortions since the decision was made in 1973 (Abortion Statistics). In 2004, about twelve percent of abortions were performed because the mother’s health was at risk.…

Motherhood should never be a punishment. Abortion is a fundamental right and should stay legal in all places for all people. A common misconception about abortion is that the child is able to feel being aborted and that it hurts the fetus. But what people do not know is that the child is actually not able to feel pain until around the twentieth week of gestation. Studies show that less than two percent of abortions occur after twenty weeks.…

As many as 5,000 deaths of women with unwanted pregnancy. These illegal abortions were often done with unsterile tools, ended in thousands of women’s loss of life, ability to conceive, and most often resulted in disease. Not only would these women have to cope with the loss of their child and often times the loss of the ability to obtain another, these women often carried the baggage of how the abortion became a possibility. Whether their pregnancy be a result of contraception failure, rape, financial instability, loss of partnership, age, or abuse. Those women who did not want their child, or could not provide the money to bring that child into the world for someone else made another decision to terminate their pregnancy in secret.…

All those innocent children suffer. And as harsh as it sounds, they're suffering could've been prevented if they hadn't been born. Innocent children do not deserve to be born out of a forced pregnancy, out of rape, out of fear of getting an abortion. They are suppose to be born out of love. They do not deserve the suffering that follows them when they are born out of all of that.…

    Abortion Controversy

Abortion has been one of the main topics in America to produce a plethora of controversy, marking the collision of two values: pro-life and pro-choice. While we know that each side produces a wide variety of points as to why each group believes what they do, we still must be omniscient about the life of the child. Someone who is pro-choice would argue that the woman has the right to her own body and what happens to it; however, taking the side of pro-choice disregards the child’s life. This seems like complete balderdash to me, almost to be noted ignorant. Abortion is wrong to me because it is considered murder, it causes psychological and emotional trauma to the mother, and it teaches people to ignore responsibility.…

“Performing the abortion would be directly killing the child, whereas doing nothing would not be killing the mother, but letting her die.” The conclusion that is drawn from this scenario is that your own right to life gives you the moral right to “unplug” yourself if your life is threatened. Equally, if there is a risk of the mother dying, she has a right to end the pregnancy in order to save herself. It cannot be considered murder to kill someone in order to save yourself. This analogy shows the extreme view to be false.…

The Moral Dilemma of Abortion “There is a plan and a purpose, a value to every life, no matter what its location, age, gender or disability” (Angle, n.d.). The ability to live is undoubtedly the greatest privilege given to mankind, and merely existing is perhaps the thing each man takes most for granted. The moral dilemma of abortion attempts to calculate the value of life by determining if exterminating a fetus is an ethical decision. Abortion is arguably one of the most relevant and frequently discussed moral topics in American society today, and plays an important role in both the personal lives of individuals and legal decisions made by the country as a whole.…
