It worries parents with their children continuing to play outdoors like a regular kid loves to do. Children are just so tiny that even going slow down a street, it needs to be extra careful. They do unexpected things like running out for a ball, or running away from playing tag. Now with speeding, it makes it an even bigger risk that I know has caused stress to families. “Neighborhood had always feared would happen,” stated by Christina Headrick, about an eight year old hit by a car. This poor kid riding his bike in his street got hit by a speeding black Firebird. The Firebird driver was incapable of slowing down in time, injuring the unfortunate kid. At the time of the request being sent out, it was not a huge deal. People just did not care to have a part in signing for something that was not a problem then. Now that we have the issue, I know it’s time to restart the petition. That’s why I feel that I should reprint and file for speed hump on our street. It’s a mandatory issue that I feel needs to be in action. There are some issues that will prevent people from agreeing with me. For Instance, “vehicles may drive on sidewalks or through front yards to avoid speed bumps” (City). Our streets are filled with trees near the pavement that help prevent from this happening. Besides that, I think there is no issue for the process of putting a speed hump in our street. On a positive note, kids will love the idea of having a mini ramp to ride their bikes
