Imagine two children on a playground one takes the others juice and in return the other kid gets angered by the notion that just because the other kid is bigger he can do whatever he wants. The kid then retaliates by crushing the other’s sandcastle. The scenario provided is a mock version of events that lead to and happened on September 11th, 2001. It will forever be remembered as the day terrorist attacked the World Trade Center in New York City, New York. These attacks took the lives of almost 3,000 people, including 227 civilians aboard an airplane that crashed in the Virginia country side. While these attacks will be in our hearts forever, the effects are felt in other ways as well.
A total of 19 terrorists all from nations in the Middle East took control of four commercial planes. The men who hijacked the planes belonged to a terrorist group called Al Qaeda, led by Osama bin Laden who pumped his hate for America into his followers. Nationalism plays a big part on both sides being that Osama bin Laden’s hatred of America stemmed from America’s presence in the Islamic holy land, while America known for its patriotism and nationalism went to the Middle East and brought their pride along too. Since Al Qaeda’s creation in the late 80’s Al Qaeda has broadened its reach and branched off to a group called ISIS who in 2016, coordinated and funded numerous bombings worldwide.
