These videos can be quite appealing in the nature that it’ll leave you feeling either a bit fearful or curious. We also find ourselves intrigued when magazines such as The National Enquirer or Star Magazine write articles revolving around such disaster. Such as, linking the upcoming apocalypse to the Dead Sea Scrolls. But what do we really know about the Dead Sea Scrolls? Were they written to prophesy future events of catastrophes and death? Or are they just ancient scrolls that just so happened to be found near the Dead Sea?

They also went unrecognized for quite some time until Metropolitan Archbishop Athanasius Yeshue Samuel, head monastery of St. Mark’s Syrian Orthodox Monastery showed the Dead Sea Scrolls to Eleazar Lup Sukenik. Sukenik was a professor of Archeology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. After Sukenik seen pieces of fragments of the scrolls, he personally took a trip to Bethlehem to see the cave, where the fragments were originally discovered. Sukenik wrote in a diary entry December 1, 1947 stating, “I read a little more in the ‘parchments.’ I’m afraid of going too far in thinking about them. It may be that this is one of the greatest finds ever made in Palestine, a find we never so much hoped for.” (Vermes) Then in February 18, 1948, John C. Trevor was contacted by Father Butrus Sowmly of St. Marks, when Father Sowmly requested help from Trevor because they were unable to recognize some of the ancient Hebrew that was found amongst the scrolls and they were hoping information could be provided so they could start to catalogue the scrolls. The Dead Sea Scrolls also contained every book from the bible except for the book of Esther. And among these books there are still many unknown scrolls of poetry, stories, commentaries and other works that have not been published. Some of the more known scrolls found among the Dead Sea Scrolls, which you can view online are: The Great Isaiah Scroll, Temple Scroll, War Scroll, Community Rule Scroll, and Commentary on the Habakkuk Scroll. All of these scrolls and manuscripts were written on animal hides, parchments of some kind and other methods, but the one that stands out the most among the scrolls is the Copper Scroll. I chose two online articles, one in The Christian Times, and the second in Haaretz. I felt like I needed to delve a little more, since both articles are short with information, yet, relatively similar. Initially, the title caught my attention. But, as I continued researching, the antiquity of the architectural structure of the buildings that remain today, enchanted me. I am neither atheist nor religious, but I was curious to see how the articles linked archeological discoveries to the Old Testament.…

One of the main ideas in “The Book of Sand” is infinity and how it can not be defined and grasped by the human knowledge. An example of how infinity can not be defined and grasped by the human knowledge, is when the salesman tells the author to find the first page and he fails to locate the first page. The author says, “Every time I tried, a number of pages came between the cover and my thumb. It was as if they kept growing from the book” (Borges, 2). This idea of infinite pages gives the story a magical realism.…

Moshe Pearlman vividly whisks the reader away in a literary time machine, titled In the Footsteps of Moses. This literary time machine is achieved through placing us, the reader right into the years that came before, the years throughout and the time that passed after Moses lifetime including the standing impact that is echoed in Jewish culture today. I especially find that Pearlman’s decision to present the history and vast amount of information upon his subject in the form of a story being told is very entertaining, as opposed to something factual and bland from a encyclopedia. Moshe Pearlman wastes no time in diving right into the good stuff, but he does so only briefly as to leave room for him to adhere with a smooth timeline. “He was born…

Prophetically catastrophic works basically uncover something that was beforehand covered up, for example, the future or the inconspicuous soul world. Whole-world destroying creators, including the creator of Revelations, frequently uncover a dream in which they meet otherworldly creatures, for example, heavenly attendants or beasts, who talk about God's future aims. The Book of Revelation is loaded with imagery used to portray occasions that demonstrate the fight amongst great and malevolence. For example,Jesus is depicted as the sheep of God.
