The Daybreak was equal parts bar and diner, although the only patrons drinking at three in the afternoon were those left over from the night before. The building was probably a good size back in its day, but, after years passed and the townspeople moved away, the eatery felt emptier than a ghost town. Midday sunlight poured past the pine trees and warmed the bar stools through the windows, however, that was no excuse for the oscillating fan to be parked beside me on a late February day. I shivered. I pushed the eggs around my plate with a half eaten piece of toast, contemplating whether or not I did the right thing by not telling Amile about the stain. I came to the conclusion that I made the right call. I mean, had it been a red wine stain
