Hi, I'm Rosemary and I'm a 12 year old girl who love to dance. It was a normal Sunday and I saw a poster coming from school that said auditions September 8 for The Nutcracker. I took a picture of the poster on my phone when I got home I showed it to my mom. The Nutcracker audition was held this Saturday I was thrilled!
I next day at school I showed all of my friends from dance class and they said they were coming too, Emmy Laila and Jamia. “You're definitely gonna get the leading role.” Jamai says “Yeah!” Laila and Emmy replies. I” can give you guys a ride from my mom she's free this Saturday.” I said. “Shur my mom has work so that’ll be great.” Emmy says. The day of the Nutcracker audition, my mom pick up all of my friends Emmy, Laila and Jamia.

The same hospital called back to my mom. They said they had just finished the prosthetics and to come there in an hour or so. When we arrived we went into a room a very nice doctor who also had prosthetics greeted me and she said Good afternoon, trust me prosthetics are not that bad. I'll teach you how to care, put it on, take it off and how to walk in them. The faster you learn how to walk the faster you can get back to dancing. But know need to rush you need to be patient when learning.
I still had to use a wheelchair in the beginning even though I got my prosthetic because I couldn’t walk in them. So right after school almost every day instead of going to dance I learn how to walk and do normal everyday things other 12 year old kids would do. I have continued my dancing but it's even easier because I don't have to use my leg muscles. Even though I have prosthesis on both of my legs I am still Rosemary a 12 year old girl who loves to

At that age, I wasn’t expected to be good it was more just for the “cute factor”. Right before we went on I was so nervous, and I remember when I first walked out in front of all those people I suddenly froze and was just memorized by all the lights shining directly into my eyes. After we danced I watched the older kids dance and I thought they were so cool because they all did their dance insync. From then on I wanted to be exactly like them…

The Tongue-Tied Sea Witch "Jackie," my mom chuckled, "you're going to do great, trust me. This is your passion - embrace it!" I winced, squirming in my seat, fingering the seatbelt nervously, " Yeah, I guess you're right - maybe I'll be the only one who even shows up..." To be honest, I wasn't expecting any more than 15 hopefuls for a part in…

The large speakers that surround the filled room begin to vibrate as the loud unknown voice begins to announce my name. I now know that it is my time to shine. While standing behind the long, red curtains I begin to do what comes natural; lifting my head as if I am looking above and beyond the ceiling that lies above me with a smile projecting from my face, standing tall with strong energy from my toes to the tips of my fingers and pushing my shoulders back to respectfully greet my judges. The adrenaline pounds in my chest, but confidence over powers and I am nothing but ready to entertain my audience. The loud roars of encouraging chanting and cheering rings in my ears as I walk towards the spotlight that gives off a warm radiant heat where I hit my beginning position.…

I observed a two-year-old room that was an inclusive classroom for a little girl, named Rosie, with cerebral palsy. I instantly noticed her and her condition because of her big wheelchair. This wheelchair was a giant hot pink contraption with Bob Marley stickers. I have never seen a children’s wheelchair but it looks way different then an adult one. The teachers explained to me all of the levers sticking out were to help the chair grow with her so that she could have it for many years.…

Ballet has always been near and dear to my heart, so much so that I took a year off from high school to pursue it on a professional level. During my year away I came to the firm conclusion that there was far more in life I cared to pursue then the four-mirrored walls I had come to know as home. I was lucky enough to find an amazing high school with a specialized “pre-med” program, the director with whom I have come to know far more as a mentor than as a teacher. Dr. Carlos Pulido is one of the wisest men I have met to date, a retired chief of surgery and certified army trauma surgeon, he is a remarkable example of all I hope to achieve in my life.…
